Food Find: Steam, Westport & Greens Farms train stations
Let’s be honest, commuting from Westport via Metro North is no walk in the park. Commuters need something to ease the pain. Lucky for us we have Steam Coffee Bar.
Chef and owner Briana (a baking & pastry graduate of the CIA) has set up shop in both the Westport & Greens Farms train stations and is now bringing clean, organic food and drink to not just commuters but also to those of us locals who nab one of the several parking spots right in front of Steam (reserved for customers).
Steam serves up the most amazing coffee from the only organic Fairfield roaster, Shearwater. Chef Briana’s housemade almond milk complements the coffee perfectly. Don’t worry, there are equally outstanding main stream milks from Hudson Milk and add ins as well. 🙂
Steam opens at 5am during the weekdays so even those catching the earliest trains have an opportunity to start their day off on the right track (no pun intended!). Briana’s cold, gooey raw oatmeal topped with seeds, dried fruit and coconut is addictive. It literally tastes like cookie dough. Bagels, donuts, house made muffins and yogurt parfaits also await you.
The cooler always has lunch options to surprise you: organic green juices, cold soups and veggie quinoa burgers are regulars. Mayo free tuna salad and a gorgeous kale and quinoa salads greeted us recently.
The beautiful space is available for private parties and events. Briana provides catering and accommodates special orders as well.
Bottom line: This place is a GEM. Leave your house 10 minutes early, you’ll be glad you did!
Steam Coffee Bar is located on the New Haven Side of the Westport Train Station. There are parking spots right in front of the shop that are reserved for customers.
